Hi, I’m Mike!
I’m a 30-year-old living in Denver Colorado. I graduated from Wartburg College (Waverly, IA) with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Following college, I started my professional career in the Midwest as Project Engineer at Russell, a commercial construction company.
After 7 years of working in the Midwest, the mountains were calling, and I knew I must go. Although a challenging season of life, Colorado continuously proves to be the right place for me. I’m currently employed at Saunders as a commercial construction project manager.

Outside of work, I enjoy all activities in the mountains.. Skiing, trail running, biking, and hiking. A highlight from this year was pacing John Dedoncker at the Leadville 100 ultra-trail run.

As I reflect on my 20’s, I think about my commitment athletic goals, dedication to profession, and learning from failure. I look forward to sharing these experiences and lessons learned via my blog.
Goal setting for my 30’s
The direction for my 30’s is to explore new passions and build my personal brand in addition to continued mountain adventure. Here are some specific pursuits.
- Public Speaking – This year I took the leap and joined a public speaking club, Toastmasters. I’ve found community and growth from stepping outside my comfort zone.

- Service – In attempt to define my purpose, I look to serve the community through volunteer work. I’m in the early stages of seeking opportunities, any suggestions are welcome!
- Mental Health – A topic relevant today and every day. In the past I’ve put high value on my physical health, and I recently made a personal commitment to maintaining brain health.
- Writing – I’ve found writing to be therapeutic. I can communicate my experiences to others and use writing as an outlet for self-reflection.
I’m excited to open my life to others in hopes to inspire, motivate and create community. Thanks for joining me on this journey! Let’s connect on LinkedIn.
